About Us
Founded in 1992 McNamara’s Turnpike Clinic is one of the oldest and most established acupuncture clinics in Ireland. Through decades of accumulated experience in medical, health and scientific fields, we have observed that if you give yourself the right conditions: healthy and nutritious diet, appropriate exercise, relaxation, and non-invasive treatments such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutritional therapies, and massage, you will give your body the opportunity for its own natural healing powers to start working to take you to a state of health and recovery. Acupuncture is part of an ancient and sophisticated form of medical treatment which originated in China but has increasingly spread throughout the world.

We are members of The Acupuncture Council of Ireland and continue to update our skills on placement at courses every year.
Keir McNamara, Ph.D, started working alongside his mother Mary who founded the clinic, in a unique mother and son business in the mid 2000's. Keir, a past Irish International Athlete has always had a passion for health and medicine, but began his career as an Agricultural Scientist and worked with Teagasc as a Walsh Fellow where he completed his Ph. D. Studies in 2001. Prior to that he completed a post graduate course in Sports Injury and Fitness management, and has spent nearly 30 years working with teams and athletes in Co. Clare. Keir completed his Acupuncture Studies with the College of Integrative Acupuncture in Galway in 2006 and has been working at the clinic since. He has recently completed courses in Tung acupuncture, an ancient divergent form of acupuncture that developed in Tawain. He is current Chairperson of the Acupuncture Council of Ireland.
